Multiskills Athletics Laser Run (Open)

An opportunity to bring a squad of 5 boys and 5 girls to participate in a Multi-skills Athletics Laser Run challenge.  Teams will rotate around a series of multi-skills and athletics based activity stations, earning ranking points for their team.  Teams will also receive some laser shooting practice ahead of the final Multi-skills Laser Run race.

The focus on this event is on ‘reconnecting and making social connections’.  Please select children that you feel would most benefit from this opportunity, including those that they may have been most adversely affected by the pandemic.  A mix of sporting abilities would be ideal.

All children will receive a medal for participating.

A full risk assessment and final details will be shared with colleagues ahead of this event.

This event is due to take place outdoors.  In the event of bad weather we will liaise with the host site as to the availability of an indoor space, taking into account the Covid guidelines at the time.

Primary Girls Futsal and Football Festival (Open)

An opportunity for schools to bring a group of year 4/5 girls to participate in a Futsal and Football Festival.  This will be a skills based festival targeted at girls that are not currently playing football as part of an extra-curricular or community club.

School groups will rotate around a series of fun Futsal and football challenges taken from the Pokemon Futsal and Shooting Stars Football resources.

Schools attending will be encouraged to register as part of the North Somerset FA Girls Football Partnership and will be signposted to further opportunities, including CPD for staff and the Shooting Stars primary football programme.

Full details and risk assessment will be shared in advance of the event.

We have set a date of Thursday 11th September to host the Large Primary (ESFA pathway) Football Finals, Bristol Grammar School Sports Ground, 09:45-12:15 hrs.

Please register your intent to enter here.  Once we have established interest we will share further details as to how schools make it to the finals.  This will most likely be via play-off rounds, or local tournaments TBC.  Schools who enter will have to commit to qualification pathway to secure their finals place.

NSSPEA Small Schools Football: expression of interest (Open)

We plan to host our annual Small School Football Tournament Finals (ESFA pathway) on Tuesday 9th November, Bristol Grammar Sports Ground 3G, 09:45-12:15 hrs.

A small school for the purposes of this competition (as per ESFA guidance) should have less than 100 children in KS2 and no more than 30 pupils in year 6.

Quadkids Multiskills Challenge (Open)

An opportunity to come together for a face to face festival that will provide participants with an opportunity to rotate in teams around a range of athletics and multiskills stations.  The event will culminate with an exciting multiskills relay.  All participants will receive a medal.

The purpose of this event is to ‘foster social connections’.

England Does the Daily Mile Challenge (Open)

On Friday 30th April, primary schools are challenged to encourage their children to run a mile as part of the ‘England Does the Daily Mile’ challenge.  This is a country wide challenge to try and get a million children active on the same day, running a million miles.

‘School Games’ Virtual Pentathlon (Sportshall Athletics) (Open)

The School Games Pentathlon is the ideal Personal Best Challenge and a national virtual
competition aimed to connect young people across the Country in a common goal.
The School Games Pentathlon is designed to:
• Support the teaching of key athletic skills
• Encourage reward and celebrate success and individual progress
• Engage whole classes, year groups and schools
• Monitor and encourage improvement in fitness levels
• Enable intra-school, inter-school and virtual competition

We invite schools to sign up to the event which we will be running locally, which will offer both participation and personal best opportunities, as well as some competition for those that wish to.  An explanation of the different pathways and all supporting resources will be shared in due course.

The Virtual Pentathlon is made up of 5 events:

Speed bounce, Standing long Jump, Vertical Jump, Chest Push and Shuttle Run

We intend to offer school’s the chance to do the full Pentathlon, or if they prefer, individual events as they see fit.  There will be opportunities for children across year 1 to 11 to participate.

Please register to indicate your interest in this event.  Please note: Team size has been set at thirty, but this is just a holding figure. We encourage whole class participation in the Virtual Pentathlon.

NSSPEA Virtual Cross Country Challenge (Open)

An opportunity for all pupils to participate in the NSSPEA Virtual Cross Country.  We are encouraging pupils to run their age appropriate distance on their own school site.

Year 1 and 2: 400 m

Year 3: 600 m

Year 4: 800 m

Year 5: 1000 m

Year 6: 1200 m

The main emphasis of this event is to promote participation, perseverance and personal best. We will be celebrating the School Games values of ‘determination’ and ‘self-belief’ across this event.  All participants will receive a participation certificate.  Schools are free to include their own intra competition as they see fit.

We will ask schools to collate the total number of metres completed by the school community and will look to share a total distance traveled by all North Somerset pupils.

Where schools require assistance, NSSPEA staff support may be available upon request/availability, pending the appropriate Covid19 RA’s.  Where schools are happy to lead themselves, all organisational paperwork/resource will be shared to support delivery.

NSSPEA Year 3 Multisport Festival (Afternoon) (Open)

An opportunity to bring a squad of ten pupils (5 boys and 5 girls) to participate in a year 3 Multi-sport Festival.

Boys and Girls will experience two 45-50 minute workshops, with Fun Fitness Circuits and MindRun4Girls offering a fitness/health focus, with Bee Netball and All4Basketball an invasion sport multi-skills focus.

This Festival is suitable for any year 3 children and will have a focus on enjoyment and participation.  The netball and basketball will be skills based and will not involve matches.  There will be opportunities for some friendly competition through games based activity, as well as personal challenge.

The Festival will be taking place within the sportshall at Hutton Moor.  Children should wear PE kit/sportswear and have suitable non-slip footwear (trainers).  Children should bring a drink in a reusable bottle.

A full risk assessment and essential information will be shared with all registered schools in advance of the Festival.
